Peng PeisongWork Description
Ode to Hui Shui By Zhang Anfu On the plateau of the Miao Mountains, vast forests stretch endlessly; In ancient Qian, emerald waters flow clear and deep. West lies Anshun, east connects Datang; North reaches Guiyang toward Hunan and Sichuan, south links Luodian to Guangxi and Guangdong. Daba and Xiaochong are lands of rice and millet; Ten thousand valleys and a thousand gullies form a home of karst caves. Spring blooms year-round with flowers in full splendor; A transport hub where merchants and travelers once gathered. The city walls stand grand as Lianshui weaves like brocade across its flow; Villages are picturesque, dotted with oranges bathed in sunlight. Lakes dot the landscape like stars on a chessboard; pines and cranes linger in affection. Rivers crisscross the land; grass is lush and cranes take flight. Descendants of the Yan Emperor settled by water; Heirs of Chi You dwelt at the mountain's base. During Spring and Autumn, it belonged to Zangke; Under Qin and Han, it fell under Yelang. In Sui and Tang, trade routes opened and counties were established—radiant glory. Later Chu suppressed the Miao people in fierce battles, clearing the southern sky. Song dynasty established an安抚 (pacification) guard, stationing troops in Eight Fan; Yuan built Chengfan Prefecture, granting hereditary titles to four clans. Ming and Qing reduced it to Defan Prefecture; Republic era renamed it Huishui County. Through a thousand years of time, history unfolds richly; Its depth resonates with untold stories soaring through ages. Mountains rise tall, holding eternal greenery; Rivers surge forward, rolling waves like snow. Peaks pierce the clouds; pavilions and towers lean beside riverside paths. A paradise on earth, the granary of southern Guizhou. Eight thousand new villages nest among layered forests; Ten thousand mu gardens bloom with fragrant jade flowers. Soil is fertile, fields crisscross; Wilderness teems with life. Cypresses, pines, banyans, and cypress trees shade the skies; Crystal, arsenic, silicon, and manganese lie hidden within mountains and ridges. Twelve historic sites draw visitors; A hundred-mile green embankment calls anglers to dream. Jiulong Zen Temple echoes with Buddhist bells; Fengshan Academy inspires scholars with solemn dedication. Swallow Cave opens into mysterious depths; Hundred Birds River flows long and serene. Hao Hua Hong flowers glow bright with plump oranges; Boyun Lake shrouds misty cascades in grandeur. Lianjiang's scenery brings peace; Dongshan Cloud Tower invites contemplation. Wolong, a sacred land, births exceptional spirits: Da Long, Xiao Long, and Jiu Long soar like dragons. Yashui's red earth breeds talents; Xiangshui, Baishui, and Qingshui nourish fragrance. Alas! The waves of emotion swell deep; Gazing upon Laobao Mountain's forest storms stirs the soul. Longing for Yemeiling's pristine beauty fills the heart. Remnants of Tunji Si Office and Longtang Covered Bridge evoke sighs. Qinghe Boat Island and Oasis, Qinshan Moon Pool and Cool Springs— All bring pure delight. Heaven crafted wonders here; resources abound. Nature nurtures talent; artisans flourish. Specialties shine proudly: Black glutinous rice known nationwide; Beef jerky famous across China and abroad. Golden mandarins sweeten homes; Yellow ginger flavors kitchens far and wide. Rice supplied to provincial capitals; Early vegetables sold briskly in Guiyang. Baima horse meat tempts distant guests; Lushan tofu delights neighbors with its tenderness... Industries thrive; millions rally behind progress. Irrigation expands; farmland improves. The Third Front Construction guided modernization; Four Modernizations charted the course. Transport networks improved; factories multiplied. Spring dances along Lianjiang—clouds spread over both banks; Paintings unfold across Miao Mountains—eight fan rains sing softly. Reform winds sweep the land; policies warm hearts. Honoring the past while forging ahead; Grand plans drawn, masterpieces unveiled. Two cities, three academies① expand urban horizons; One town, two industrial parks② unleash nuclear energy. Ancient towns rest quietly in corners; skyscrapers rise in all directions. Ten-mile thoroughfares resemble celestial markets; Shuangbi peaks rival earthly palaces. Big data breaks cocoons, transforming into butterflies; Small enterprises shed feathers, evolving into phoenixes. Industry surges like dragons leaping and tigers bounding; Agriculture transforms like phoenixes soaring amid rosy clouds. Moon reflects stars; culture converges here. Dances flow freely; poems sparkle brilliantly; arts shine together. Buyi folk songs charm with gentle melodies; Miao flying songs soar high. Lusheng flutes drift ethereally; suonas wander melodiously. "Typical Family" praises reform; "Eight Sounds Sitting Singing" lifts folk strings. "Meng A Sha" showcases Buyi customs; "The Chinese Horse" plays the anthem of our times. "Hao Hua Hong" spreads its graceful tune across four seas; "Thinking of Lianjiang" whispers tenderly throughout eight deserts. Luo Xiuying, the army's nightingale; Wu Yingxiang, the calligraphy master's youth. "Fengxiang Dye" preserves intangible heritage; "Lantern Opera" feeds the spirit. Generations of literati chant mountains and waters; countless friends and ink-slinging poets compose endless verses. Old geese recognize sunset river crossings; Today's swallows express the beauty of new eras. Magnificent! Huishan and Huishui, harmonious breezes blow gently; Majestic! High buildings and elevated slopes, mountain ranges stack upon one another. Oh! The homeland of Hao Hua Hong prospers through generations!
